    Piešťany Spa

The tour continues from the Small Carpathians to the valley of the Váh River to visit Slovakia’s best know spa town – Piešťany. The healing properties of its hot springs with temperatures of 67-69°C, as well as its healing mud, originating at 2000m depth on the Spa Isalnd in the Váh River, were known already in the Middle Ages and today rang among the world´s best. Piešťany was frequently visited by aristocracy, European monarchs, sheikhs and maharajas as well as international movie stars and famous composers like Beethoven. The architecturally interesting Collonade Bridge connects the quient pedestrian Old Town lined with little shops and cafés with the Spa Island, where elegant historic buildings of the spas, as well as the Thermia Palace Hotel, a jewel of Art Nouveau, are surrounded by a beautiful historic park with ponds fed from the hot springs.

    Trenčín

Following the River Váh you pass the ruin of Beckov Castle built in the 13th century on top of a high rocky outcrop. In the Middle Ages castles in this part of Slovakia were built 30km apart to be able to communicate with each other. Virtually within sight lies the center of the Váh Valley – the historic town of Trenčín, which is dominated by the largest castle of the region – the Trenčín Castle.

    Trenčín

A Roman inscription at the foot of the castle rock describes the victorious battle of the Roman Emperor Marcus Aurelius against the Germanic Quadi in 179 AD. It is the northernmost evidence of Romans in central Europe. The beginnings of the medieval castle date to the 11th century and by the early 14th century large parts of Slovakia had been ruled from here. Throughout its history it was continuously enlarged and modernised by different noble families that owned it and therefore it consists of numerous parts. The stunning panoramic views of the whole region are well worth the climb. The Trencin Castle is one of Slovakia’s largest castles and together with the pretty historic town below it is today one of the main tourist attractions of western Slovakia.

Note: According to your needs, we can also suggest a tailor-made tour, which will last exactly the amount time you have.
