The Small Carpathians Tour
We take you to explore the wine-making countryside to the east of Bratislava known for quaint villages, historic towns and castles. Slovakia’s largest compact wine-growing region starts already in Bratislava and extends for 60km to the east of the city. The vineyards that cover the south slopes of the Small Carpathian Mountains produce some great white and rosé wines. Some of Europe’s largest wine cellars are to be found in a mighty fortress surrounded by thick forests rich in game animals. The highlight of this tour is the visit of the Červený Kameň Castle (the Red Stone Castle), which ranks among the best preserved in Slovakia and boast apart from the beautifully furnished period rooms the largest cellars in central Europe. Originally built in the 13th century as a royal castle on an iron containg rock - hence its name, it was transformed in the 16th century by the Fugger, the German banking family, into an untakeable fortress to protect the stored copper against the Ottomans. The Fuggers mined it in central Slovakia and traded with the Medicis in Florence. Later the noble Hungarian Palffy family used its enourmous cellars to store wine from the region before being exported to the neighbouring countries.

The drive continues further along the mountains through quiant villages and slopes covered with vineyards to a visit the nearby fairy-tale like Smolenice Castle. It is a private castle but you will have the chance to see its attractive courtyard and admire the gorgeous views onto the mountains. To finally see how wine is made in Slovakia nowadays and taste some together with traditional food, you will visit a unique state-of-the-art winery that combines art, food and wine in one attractive complex.
Piešťany Spa
The tour continues from the Small Carpathians to the valley of the Váh River to visit Slovakia’s best know spa town – Piešťany. The healing properties of its hot springs with temperatures of 67-69°C, as well as its healing mud, originating at 2000m depth on the Spa Isalnd in the Váh River, were known already in the Middle Ages and today rang among the world´s best. Piešťany was frequently visited by aristocracy, European monarchs, sheikhs and maharajas as well as international movie stars and famous composers like Beethoven. The architecturally interesting Collonade Bridge connects the quient pedestrian Old Town lined with little shops and cafés with the Spa Island, where elegant historic buildings of the spas, as well as the Thermia Palace Hotel, a jewel of Art Nouveau, are surrounded by a beautiful historic park with ponds fed from the hot springs.

Note: According to your needs, we can also suggest a tailor-made tour, which will last exactly the amount time you have.
